Ochigo – Male Umbrella Cockatoo Seeking a Loving Home

Due to a devastating change in our family circumstances, I am seeking a new forever home for Ochigo, our Umbrella Cockatoo.
Ochigo was born around 1999, and we have been his family since 2013. He came to us from a rescue after experiencing multiple family changes.
Ochigo is incredibly intelligent and gentle, but he is also highly anxious. He requires significant time, attention, patience, and understanding. He can be loud, as screaming is his way of expressing himself, and he is a plucker, which is common in sensitive birds.
He is a shy bird and will take time to warm up to new people. He doesn’t have a real preference for gender but does seem slightly more comfortable with females.
NO small children please.
He thrives on activities that engage his mind and body. Ochigo loves destroying wooden toys and enjoys training sessions where he learns tricks and bonds with his caregivers.
He is accustomed to living in a flock with our three other large parrots and benefits greatly from this type of interaction.
Ochigo is seeking a stable family where at least one person is home consistently to provide the care and attention he needs to be happy.
Adopting Ochigo will be a careful and deliberate process. There will be multiple visits to ensure it’s the right fit for everyone. I am committed to providing training and ongoing support to help Ochigo and his new family succeed.
