Kakariki and 2 budgies looking for a new “feathever” family.

NOTE: These are NOT Birdline birds at this time. All of the information provided is done by the current owner who is looking to find a new family. Please contact them directly.

Sunshine is a kakriki. Her specific gender is not really known, and we just call her, her. She is 8 years old (almost 9). She has been with us since 2017.

Her daily diet consists of Tropican lifetime cockatiel pellet, mixed with some Hagen Cockatiel Seed; she is also given salads (daily to every other day), with occasional fresh fruit and spray millet. She hasn’t had any recent vet exams; I believe the last one was from a very long time ago for a bite from another bird.

Her cage is on our middle level in the corner area of the room. This is our tv level, so there is a decent amount of noise and people’s presence. Her cage is across from our budgies. Her cage has food dishes that fit into the dish holders, a mirror (she is in love with it), a long perch spanning the width of the cage, a smaller perch, a big ladder, a cuddle bone and miner block, and about 4 colourful toys with different sizes, textures, and materials. Her cage is 30 in (h) x 18 in (l) x 18 in (w), and the connected legs and wheels add an extra 16 in to the height.

sunshine loves her mirror, fresh fruits, toys that she can rip or shred, attention (and has the tendency to get jealous), she’s very curious and will fly over to the couch to see what we are doing or what food we have, she likes discovering little hiding places (behind her cage, spaces behind couch pillows, etc.) shoulder rides are her favored way to be with you during handling or walking around, and she loves flying around the house and finding high places for her to perch, relax, and/or flap her wings to show off.

She does not like dogs , she can be very timid of other birds if she hasn’t been around them for long, she is selective in who she likes, and that can change from day to day, most strangers she’ll tend to avoid or will show no interest in them, for a couple years she’s shown more dislike towards fingers but will step up onto a hand, arm, or sleeve, and she doesn’t like fast or surprising movements comings at/near her.

Though she does have some behavioural issues with aggression, in her good mood, she really is so funny, silly, cute, quirky, and amazing to have around.

Budgie #1 is Joe. He is mostly green with yellow on his face, and black on his back and wings. We have had him since late 2022, and he is approximately 3-4 years old. His daily food is the Hagen budgie seed, and he will get spray millet and salad a couple of days a week. He shares a cage with our other budgie (Enzo), located on our tv level in the corner area of the room, across from our kakriki.

The cage is about 27 in (h) x 19 in (w) x 19 in (l). Their cage has 2 long rope perches that span the length of the cage, 2 separate wood perches placed differently, a ladder, a cuddle bone, 2 mirrors (one for each bird), 3-4 different toys in the cage at a time with different textures, materials, bells, and things to chew (we have a couple extra toys that we add or switch out with the others for more/different options), food and water dishes that fit into the cages’ holders and an extra set of food and water dishes added into the cage to reduce the budgies competition for food.

Likes and dislikes: Joe likes his specific mirror; it has a perch attached to it, so he likes to sit and look at himself. He sometimes likes salads, depending on what he’s given, but it usually takes him a little while to go check it out, and there are always food shreds below the dish when I check on him later. Though Joe has regressed from being hand tamed do to a lack of time to spend with him, he does like listening to the sounds of birds singing, or being whistled to and talked to. Joe doesn’t love it when his food is taken out, but is happy when it’s back. With him not being hand-tamed right now, he doesn’t like hands in his face, but I’m sure he could get used to them again with someone who has the extra time to spend with him.

Strangers, he doesn’t really make an issue with them because he doesn’t get handled by them. For other pets like dogs, he’s just more scared of them.

Budgie #2 is Enzo. He is mostly yellow with green patches and some black. We’ve had him since 2023, and would approximate his age to be around 2-3 years old. He gets the same food as Joe: Hagen budgie seed, and he will get spray millet and salad a couple of days a week. He shares a cage with Joe, so he has the same cage dimensions, toys, cage items, and placement.

Likes and dislikes: Enzo likes his mirror and the highest wooden perch in his cage. While Joe can be more independent, Enzo likes to try win Joe’s heart multiple times throughout the day. Enzo is the talker of the two and loves to sing, make kissy noises, and scream sometimes. He also enjoys listening to bird noises, whistling, and talking. Enzo is scared of almost everything, and he’s been that way since we got him, but when no one’s hand is moving around in the cage, he can be pretty chill. He is not hand-tamed either right now, so he doesn’t like hands in his face, but this also means that strangers aren’t an issue for him as long as they aren’t trying to handle him.

There will be an adoption fee – which can be discussed. Please contact:
