I’m Robin Horemans. It is wonderful to be part of the Birdline community!
First, I’d like to tell you a bit about myself. I have many years of experience with companion parrots as well as university training in both Biology and Animal Behavior.
Having studied ABA , I am able to functionally assess any individual in a variety of situations. This is especially useful with our companion parrots, as they truly are a “study of one”!
There will be articles about ABA as well as Positive Reinforcement Training available soon.
I have been a member of IAATE (International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators) since 1998. I have also completed additional courses with Dr. Susan Friedman and Barbara Heidenreich, and have had extensive training at HARI .
I have also mentored owners (such as yourselves!) through the yahoo group ParrotBAS run and moderated by Dr. Friedman herself.
I hope to be able to meet many of you in person very soon. For now, I am accepting your behaviour and training questions through Birdlines Q&A section(to be up and running soon).
You can also contact me directly through firstname.lastname@example.org. I will also be at the Birdline booth at the Pet Expo, coming up on May 5 and 6 at Canada Olympic Park. I hope to see you there!
